Take Away Tuesday - Guest Blogger Hello Mrs Sykes, Build Vocabulary

Happy Summer, y'all!!  I'm Jen from Hello Mrs Sykes, and I'm super excited to be a guest blogger today for Flip Floppin' Through Third Grade today.
As teachers, we know that Vocabulary development is crucial.  Regardless of where students are when they enter school, it is important to build a strong foundation in academic vocabulary before they leave Elementary school.  Want an easy way to build their vocabulary, while also encouraging students to use a dictionary, a thesaurus, and engage in academic discussions about words for less than 5 minutes a day?  I love, love, love the Mystery Word of the Week!  I came up with this when I was a Literacy Specialist working with upper elementary kiddos, and I continued to use this in my 2nd grade class for the past few years.  If you click on the picture below, you can download a free week to try in your classroom.
Print, post, enjoy!!  For more information and pictures, click on the picture below to visit a blog post about the Mystery Word of the Week.

How do you plan to Build Vocabulary this year?
