TPT Back to School Sale 2015

I'm excited today to be joining a group of bloggers to talk about the TPT Back to School 2015 sale. In case you don't know about it yet...
300 × 250

I'd like to highlight my favorite back to school resource: All About Me student booklet.

This is a great writing activity for back to school. When copied front/back, folded and assembled, it creates and 11 page student booklet with a variety of questions that lets you get to know more about each student.

Another great resource (and my best seller) is: Track My Data.

This is a set of 11 different graphs to help track student data. Graphs included are:
Fluency
Phonics (spelling)
AR
MAP Reading (fall, winter, spring)
MAP Language (fall, winter, spring)
MAP Math (fall, winter, spring)
MAP Science (fall, winter, spring)
Reading Standard (formative, 3 practice scores, summative)
Language Standard (formative, 3 practice scores, summative)
Math Standard (formative, 3 practice scores, summative)
Multiplication Facts

Graphs can be used with any standards or program (*with the exceptions listed below). Also included is a title page for student data binders.

*AR (Accelerated Reader) is a program your school must purchase.
*MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) in an online assessment tool that your district must subscribe to.

I always copy these graphs and prep my student data folders before school begins. This way we are ready to graph data when we begin those beginning of the year baseline assessments.

Stop by my TPT store and add these to your wish list before the sale begins. Don't forget to use the promo code BTS15 when checking out during the sale (speaking from experience here). :)

Summer Sunday - part 3

Hello everyone! I'm back this Sunday sharing with you another part of my summer. Every 4th of July we head home to visit with family and enjoy some time together. We usually have a small cookout and the kids love having fireworks. I usually sit by nervously watching my kids as they light small fireworks. Of course there is adult supervision, but it make me so nervous anyway. Thankfully we made it through another year safely and had a great time with family. I hope you enjoyed your celebration of America too!

Here's a few of our photos from our celebration.

Summer Sunday (Part 2) - St. Louis Zoo

I am back this week sharing about another fun activity my family has enjoyed this summer.

I am really trying to relax and refresh during the time I have left. Students start back to school exactly one month from today. Eeeek! Where have the last 6 weeks gone?!?

On our recent trip to St. Louis, my son wanted to stop by the zoo. What a great request. This place has free admission. We had a ton of fun as a family and enjoyed seeing lots of animals. This is a great place to visit and it fits nicely in the budget too.

Check out the photo tour of some of our highlights. Enjoy!

So how is your summer vacation going? Comment below. I'd love to hear from you!

Summer Sunday - City Museum - St. Louis

So I've decided that over the next several Sundays to share what my summer fun has been about. I'm a super planner (and believe me- that is still happening). However, I have slowly realized that I don't take the time necessary to really relax. I'm trying to focus on that the last half of my summer. So, I bring to you the first edition of Summer Sunday!

My family and I went on a little two day trip to St. Louis. So much to do in that city! I was completely in awe of the City Museum. What an awesome and unique place. This is definitely on our list of "must do this again" adventures. The architecture of this place is amazing. It is housed in an old shoe factory building and designed out of recycled and reclaimed objects. We could only visit for one day and there was no way to see it all, so we just let the kids guide us. Pretty amazing! Below is a photo tour of the highlights of our day.

Pencils - of course I had to take this picture.
Early robotics.

Old arcade games.

Fossil and specimen displays.

Underground cave system.

Glass floor held up by tiny action figures.

Indoor climbing structures.

Outdoor climbing structures.

10 story slide.

Indoor treehouse.

Amazing architecture.

If this isn't a place you have visited yet, definitely add it to your list if you ever visit St. Louis. If you'd like to find out more, just visit http://www.citymuseum.org.

**Disclaimer - I am writing this review out of my own amazement of this museum. I'm not receiving any kind of retribution for promoting the City Museum.

Thinking About A Classroom Update....

I have been out of school for about a week now.  I am trying to take some time to relax, but my mind is already engaged in what can be for next year.  Top of my list - updated classroom decor.  I inherited a turquoise painted classroom.  For the first 2 years, it was fine.  It was new and happy and bright.  I used the Boho Birds theme and it was great, but about a month before school was over, I walked into my classroom and just couldn't take it anymore!!! The bright color combination started to make me nauseous.  I knew it was time for a change.  So..... the one thing I KNOW that I do not want to take on is painting all of the walls. So what to do with those turquoise walls?  My one solution was to subdue the brightness.  After scouring Pinterest and teaching blogs, I think I have decided... Chalkboard and Burlap. I'm thinking along these lines:

Since this update is happening (I took down all of my other decor the last week of school- no backing out now), I took some time today to update my 3rd Grade I Can Learning Targets.
